Another Fast Lick

Filed Under (Guitar Secrets) by admin on 22-01-2010

Ok here’s another fast lick for you to try out. On this one, I want
to emphasize the picking – there’s very little picking going on actually.
It’s mostly hammer ons and pull offs, and especially hammering on
“from nowhere” onto a new string.

Try to only pick using the picking symbols shown here…Its mostly upstrokes,
starts with an upstrokes and a few downstrokes later. There is one slide
to the 9th fret G string, which really starts on the 7th fret (not notated).

By the way, if you don’t have my DVDs yet, what are you waiting for? Check out Killer Guitar Control Secrets.

  2. I am 18 years old, and I started playing the acoustic guitar when I 12 years of age. Suddenly I was obsessed with songs and Art.Eventually I am now a lead guitar @ our small church here in the pacific.. But the problem is- is that I totally don’t know how to read NOTES…I really want to improve my guitar skills by learning a few things from you though..
For the record that is an awesome KILLER GUITAR CONTROL SECRETS YOU GOT THERE..
    rock on..
    tnks john..

  3. Holy crap Claude! That is a hard lick to learn! What level of playing would you say that is?

  4. Hey my man Claude. I apologize for taking so long to write, but man this Guitar Control program is very time consuming. I tell you I start playing my acoustic in the evening, next I’m playing the bass, and last on my electric guitar. Next thing I know it’s morning and i have to go to work. I’v never felt music like this before in my soul and I want to thank you for that. peace and keep rockin the house.

  5. Hey, Brother Claude,

MY DAD IS GREAT… HE HAD KNEE SURGERY LAST YEAR AND HES DOING AWESOME..THX FOR ASKING -CLAUDE

  9. Happy birthday: I’ve been playing for fourty years and bought your cours and even though I a good guitar player and have my own studio your courses have help me. your web sight is very cool. Keep up the great work.

  10. This is hard for a newbie like me — liked the string skipping arpeggio trick you emailed out in a recent email. Claude, keep up the good work. This stuff really helps me!

  11. Too fast for country. Doesn’t sound like something I would want to play.

  12. Listened to those licks, they’re pretty cool! Thanks

  13. it seems to me that there’s a lack of melody in most of the riffs but iy’s certainly ilitgood to work for speed and agility .feel like a trick of guitarist!
    carry on its ok

  14. I am a bass player first, taking guitar lessons. If I can get these riffs down at half speed, then Ill play it for my guitar instructor and see what he can do…….

  15. Fast isn’t always what makes a good lick. It’s the feeling that comes through you to the strings to the listener. David Gilmour is just one example. Van Halen fast is not impressive to me. Can you dig it?

  16. hello claude, haven’t gotten my cheap guitar “hunington” yet, but it should be here some time next week. thanks for the emails. ron

  17. I was wondering if you could show me a few tricks on rhythm playing that I can use when I’m playing some good ole southern rock music.I use the styles of Skynyrd and marshall tucker as well as blackfoot then I throw a little
Jimi Hendrix.I’m sure there are more artists that play in these styles.I have been using the patterns like what Skynyrd does with sweet home alabama, and tuesdays gone.which they both are just repeating the cord pattern over and over again.I also like the way Skynyrd did the song red ,white and blue.I loved the way that chord pattern goes with that song.I just taught myself the song ALL SUMMER LONG /KID ROCK.Even thou he took the pattern from skynyrd’s sweet home alabama I still like that song.Thank you ,Nick.

  18. I also do all this in standard tuning440.I just thought I’d say that so you know what tunings I will be using. Thanks again.Nick
