  19. Wow! Playin’ and pickin’ by myself for over 40 years and NOW I find the right man to teach me what the heck I am not doing right. I have learned more in one month from Claude than I learned by myself in 40 years.

  20. HO HO HO!!! Santa Clause Santa Claude!!!
    Merry Christmas, and happy riffing!

  21. By the way, your 3 components:
    1 – Essential Technique
    2 – Fretboard Knowledge
    3 – Brain-To-Hand Connection

  22. 1. Essential Technique- These are the very basic guitar skills that you need to learn in order to become a great guitar player. For example: hammer ons and pull offs, vibrato, note bending, palm muting, down picking, alternate picking, hybrid picking, etc.

    2. Fretboard Knowledge – It is important to be able to understand what and where the notes are on the fretboard. With this understanding, you will be able to connect the octaves of a particular scale together and move it up the fretboard. For example: starting an Em scale on the open 6th string and “walking” it all the way up to the 12th fret on the first string. With knowledge of the fretboard and Claude’s training, you will be able to do this with ease!

    3. The “Brain-to-Hand” Connection. This is what Claude means when he says “Playing with your HEART”. This is easily equated with the martial art technique of ‘Qi Gong’ or inner strength. After gaining mastery of the fretboard combined with your practiced Essential Techniques, you will begin to think less about what you are playing because this wisdom will become ingrained into your subconscious AND muscle memory. With this, you will begin to really play with soul and gain a greater fulfillment out of playing your instrument, since you will be able to finally get that sound and feel that you have always been looking for and knew that you could do all along! (the mental visualization and positive thinking also helps to develop the Brain to Hand Connection in more ways than you imagine!)

    Happy Holidays!!!!

  23. deat Santa Claude,
Thank you for your wonderful gifts of music lessons for the 12 days of christmas. I have enjoyed learning new stuff like this, and you make it simple and easy to learn.
    John

  24. I have no solid body electric, so here goes: 1. Ability to physically play the instrument, 2. Know the entire neck, 3. Can you sing & then make the guitar sing? I do know these things but not very well. Give me a couple years at my rate.

  25. 1)Essential Technique
    a basic level of technique
    2)Fretboard Knowledge
how the entire guitar neck connects together
    3)The “Brain-to-Hand” Connection.
creativity with your fingers, for melodies and solos

  30. Claude…

    The 3 components are…

Claude… The 3 components are… 1) Essential Technique – as you put it, the most essential level of guitar training. When playing guitar, it’s analogous to card counting in blackjack. If you don’t know basic strategy of blackjack, when to hold, when to hit, etc., you’re simply wasting your time. It’s the very foundation and basics of what guitar playing is about. You got to know the basics before you can move to the advanced. You’ve got to know how to start the car before you can race at Indy.

    2) Fretboard Knowledge – the novice thinks that the fretboard is merely a repeating pattern of notes. But, truly, the fret board is an integrated, inter-connected dynamic place of movable patterns and related concepts. Learning all of these relationships furthers the student’s basic knowledge by allowing him to instantly transpose positions. With a full understanding of the fretboard, a student is never “lost”, regardless of what they’re playing; they can always refer to the perfect mode, pattern or scale.

    3) The “Brain-to-Hand” Connection – this is the ability to tap into the inner “chi” of a guitar player. The beginner spends his time thinking…”I’m gonna go to this note next on the next beat”, and trying to make it work consciously, with controlled thought. Step 3) comes in when a mastery of steps 1) & 2) is achieved; the ability to tap into that inner “chi” and let the inner guitar god take over and create a direct pipeline from the mind to the fingers. In other words, we’re fretboard flying using the auto-pilot of the subconscious, and not having to get the “okay” about what we’re doing with the conscious mind.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a Rocking New Year to all!

Let’s hope our lives, the economy and our guitar playing all improve with the new decade!!!

IS THE ANSWER TO THE 3 COMPONENTS OF KILLER GUITAR CONTROL SECRETS

  48. Merry Christmas Claude!

I learned to play when I was a teen. Years ago my ex-husband gave my guitar to our daughter, and a few weeks ago I asked her if I could have it back. Her dad can give her one of HIS many guitars! I bought mine with my own hard-earned money saved for months from babysitting – love my pretty blonde Epiphone acoustic, and am happy to have it back. I hadn’t played since my early 20’s. All these years later I can barely even remember any chords, so thanks for the lessons!

    1) Essential Technique
