Major 7 Improvisation

Filed Under (Jazz) by admin on 11-10-2010

Major 7 chords are amoung my favorite chords. They have a very beautiful,
mellow quality to them.

You can do a lot of cool things on the guitar with some very simple musical ideas.
For example, let’s take a 2 chord progression – Amaj7 to Dmaj7.

We can spice it up with just a few jazz inspired melodies in between the chords,
and create some cool, mellow sounds.

The melody starts out as inspired by a jazz standard melody but then I improvise a bit.

Try this yourself – go back and forth from A maj7 to D maj7 and throw
in a few melodies as you do it.
